Graduation Ceremony Year 6 & Year 11
Thu, 24 Nov 2016

The evening of Tuesday 22 November 2016 was a memorable time for the Year 6 and Year 11 graduating students of St. George's School. The ceremony was held at the Multi-purpose Hall, Fire & Rescue Department, Old Airport, Berakas.

Mr Janidi Jingan, Principal of St George's School, Mr NM Mubarak, Deputy Principal, Heads of Sections and teachers were on hand to to greet the honourable guest of honour. The Chairman of the School Board of Governors Mr Anthony Liew Vun Chiang, Members of the School Board of Governors, other invited guests, proud parents and all the graduating students were given a warm welcome too.

In his speech, the Principal spoke on a graduation ceremony as being always a special occasion and a proud day for the graduating students. For some, it is a chance to celebrate the culmination of years of hard work, the actualization of goals attained and the acknowledgement of successes achieved. With this in mind, St.George's School held a graduation ceremony to ensure that the students would experience the occasion as one of their happiest moments in their life. He shared that the school and the teachers were honoured to have taught them and would continue to strive in ensuring that students would be equipped with the necessary skills and mindsets that would prepare them for the years ahead. He was proud that the dedicated teachers at St.George's School were able to impart their knowledge to the students, were committed in instilling the passion for learning and also in the moral, social and cultural values of our students. Furthermore, the school was united in sharing the same vision in realizing the students' dreams.

To the Year 6 students, the principal gave an insight on what they could expect as they start secondary school- new subjects to learn, increased in contents of subjects, extra workload and lots of extra-curricular activities.

To the Year 11 students, he hoped they would leave the school with fond memories of their years spent at St.George's School. He shared that their teachers had taught them lessons that extended well beyond the four walls of the classroom, providing them with plenty of opportunities from the perspective of academic and extra-curricular activities in relation to the values in life. He wished all the graduates everything they richly deserve in the years ahead.

The principal thanked the parents for their support towards their child's education and for playing an active role in their child's life. He also thanked them for their attendance at the graduation ceremony to celebrate their child's 'rite of passage'.

The ceremony was further appreciated with speeches given by Nadine Kong Xiang Ying of Year 6 and Dominic Cayetano Santomin of Year 11. Looking splendid in their graduation robes and mortar board, the graduands formally received their Graduation Certificates. Together with the invited guests, parents and teachers, they were all treated to dance performances and a violin performance by students of St.George's School. The ceremony ended with a Graduation Song presented by all the graduates.
