On 29 April 2025, a group of 56 Kindergarten III students from St. George’s School enjoyed an exciting trip to Rimba Garden Centre. They were warmly welcomed by staff members and commerated the trip with a group photo.

Everyone then explored both the indoor and outdoor gardens where students learnt about the variety of leaves and plant structures as well as the different conditions required by plants such as sunlight. A highlight of the day was a hands-on repotting activity, where the little gardeners potted their own plants to take home. The trip ended with a cheerful outdoor picnic surrounded by nature.

This meaningful experience helped students strengthen their bond with the environment and connected beautifully with their recent Earth Day lessons. It was a memorable and inspiring morning for everyone!

St. George's School recently reinforced its commitment to developing future leaders by holding a dynamic and engaging two-day leadership programme for its secondary student leaders, monitors, prefects, head boy, and head girl. Held on February 13th and 14th, the programme focused on cultivating essential leadership skills and instilling a strong sense of responsibility and service in these promising young individuals.

The programme commenced with an air of anticipation on day one at the Parish Hall. Mr. Anthony Vun Chiang Liew, Chairman and School Board of Governors, delivered a thought-provoking keynote address on "Empower, Inspire, Lead: The Importance of Leadership in School & Beyond," setting an inspiring tone for the days ahead. Building on this, our Deputy Principal led a practical workshop on event management fundamentals, empowering students to take ownership of school events while teachers provide guidance and mentorship. Energetic ice-breaking sessions, skillfully facilitated by Teacher Evelyn and Teacher Afiqah, along with other members of the SA Committee, helped the students connect and build strong bonds. The afternoon was dedicated to a collaborative project: planning a school event. Students were divided into four teams—Information and Environment, Discipline, Welfare, and Sports and Culture—each tasked with brainstorming ideas and defining their key responsibilities. A dynamic team-building and communication activity, led by Mr. Luxman, involving a paper chain challenge, provided a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on teamwork, communication, and observation skills. The first day concluded with a truly memorable performance of "A Night To Remember" by student leader Abigail Calimbas Olayvar, a talented singer who has been delighting school audiences since her primary school years.

Day two began with an encouraging motivational talk from our Principal, Mr. Janidi Jingan, followed by a nourishing breakfast, setting a positive tone for the day's activities. The four teams reconvened to refine their event plans, preparing to present them to a distinguished panel comprising the CEO, Principal, Deputy Principal, SA officers, and teachers. Each team also took time for reflection on the previous day's activities, consolidating their learning and insights. A highlight of the programme was the awards ceremony, where the CEO, Principal, and Deputy Principal presented awards to the teams each identified by a colour in recognition of their outstanding contributions and dedication. The CEO presented the Outstanding Teamwork Award to the GREEN team and the Dream Team Award to the PEACH team. The Principal awarded the Energy Bomb Award to the YELLOW team and the Resilience/Never-Give-Up Award to the BLUE team. Finally, the Deputy Principal presented the Best Communicators Award to the RED team and the Problem-Solving Champion Award to the PINK team.

The programme reached a fitting conclusion with a rousing closing ceremony featuring another exceptional performance by Abigail Calimbas Olayvar, this time a group rendition of "From The Start." A final group photo captured the positive spirit and camaraderie fostered during the programme. This leadership experience proved invaluable, equipping St. George's students with the skills, motivation, and confidence to become effective leaders and valuable contributors to their school community and beyond.
