Saturday 11 February 2012 saw 50 students of St. George's School take part in the 1984 Olympic Torch Relay around Bandar Seri Begawan. The Year 8A students were accompanied by two teachers from the school. The students wore the '1984 Olympic Torch Run Brunei' t-shirt which was kindly sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank and eagerly waited at Checkpoint Three for the torch to pass.
The torch relay and a flag raising ceremony to mark the 200 Days-to-Go till the Paralympics Games and the London 2012 Olympic Games were conducted in Bandar Seri Begawan. The events were organised in collaboration with the British High Commission to Brunei, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Brunei Darussalam National Olympics Council and Jerudong Internationl School.
The students who participated in this event were enthusiastic and excited to be part of history in the making. Also, the students recognised that the event was held to promote the involvement in sport amongst young people in Brunei and as a symbol of peace.
