On the 7th of March, 26 schools in Brunei competed in the Brunei English Language Teachers' Association (BELTA) ORATORICAL COMPETITION held at STPRI in Bandar Seri Begawan.
After more than just a week of preparation for the said competition, SGS, just like the other schools, came fully armed and ready to evince their prowess in oratory. At the end of the competition, only 8 schools were chosen to vie for the final round.
Adrain Suhaili of Year 10B made it to the finals. Adrian wowed the audience with his charisma. He is a natural speaker and quite confident in delivering his speech on COSMETIC SURGERY. Adrian endeared himself to his audience with his wit and humour.
The team was headed by their coach, Mr. Eugenio V. Mendoza. Together with the two orators, Adrian Suhaili and Nathan Lim, Mr Eugenio would like to offer their thanks to his fellow St. Georgians, especially to Madam Chew Lai Kwan, Head of Secondary and Ms. Sheeba Charles, Head of English Department, for their enormous support and contribution towards achieving a place in the finals of the said competition.
For now, the team will enjoy the holiday but the moment the school reopens for the second term, much needed preparations have to be made to make sure that in the end, SGS will, through the support of the school and its members, emerge as Champion in the final round.
