St. George's Teachers and Staff Participate in Team Building Activity
Thu, 29 Sep 2016

On Friday and Saturday, September 9 and 10, 2016, a total of 40 teachers, staff and family members participated in a Team Building Activity, organized by St.George's Staff Welfare Department. This event appealed to many as they used their mental and physical strength, and not forgetting their vocal chords, to carry out the numerous physically demanding activities and to cheer their colleagues and family members on.

The team building activity took place at the Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort ( BTRR ), Miri, Sarawak. The venue is an agro and nature resort nestled in the natural setting of pristine and lush tropical rainforests of the Lambir Hills, neighboring to the renowned Lambir Hills National Park.

The main focus of these activities was to learn team work and build long term friendships among our staff and teachers. Some aspects of these activities required possession and knowledge of leadership and good communication skills which are vital in the team activities which went further than an intellectual mind exercise.

Activities included the 'low-rope course', obstacle course, kayaking, roller ball and various energy sapping but 'fun-to-do' games. The participants went on a night hike and jungle trekking along specially designed foot paths. They also strolled into a fruit orchard, took an educational tour to a domestic animal farm and watched the tilapias and other fish swim close to them on their boat tour.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience where the teachers, staff and family members could spend some time amidst nature and most importantly, work as a team. After a few hours of team building activities, and facing obvious weariness, the participants were pleasantly surprised as they were treated to sumptuous meals of international and Asian cuisines served at the One Tree Hill Cafe.
