60 Kindergarten 3 pupils from St. George's School had an excursion to learn how mails and parcels are processed and delivered. Accompanied by 4 kindergarten teachers, the preschoolers visited the Mail Processing Center at Old Airport Road, Berakas, on 24 August 2017.
The children and teachers were warmly welcomed by the staff at the Post-office. They were taken around to see how letters and packages were collected, segregated, stamped and stored in pigeon holes for the postmen to collect.
The preschoolers had a glance of the various counters catering to the public, namely those selling stamps, envelopes, postcards and providing other various postal services. They were also briefed on the way parcels were delivered to different places in the city, within the country as well as many countries around the world too! They also had the opportunity to see a mail motorcycle and a postman in person.
The children learnt to purchase a stamp and posted a letter that each of them had prepared in class by writing and drawing pictures on it themselves. They were delighted during the trip and excited at receiving mail at their home in the coming days.
