On Thursday, the 2nd January 2025, St. George’s School (SGS) was honoured to receive a visit from a delegation of ten officials from the Ministry of Education. This visit, the first such visit in over a decade, took place between 10:00 am and 11:00 am and was part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to ensure the smooth operation of schools and to identify any challenges they may face.
The delegation included prominent figures such as Yang Mulia Dr. Chin Wei Keh, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Higher Education, Yang Mulia Awang Zainal Abiding bin Haji Kepli of the Department of Schools Inspectorate, and Hj Sofian Erwan Bin Mohamad, Head of Private Education, Jabatan Pendidikan Swasta (JPS), along with other officials from the JPS and the Department of Planning and Estate Management.
Representing SGS were Principal Mr. Janidi Jingan, Deputy Principal Mr. N.M Mubarak, and Head of Secondary Mr. Aywen Chak, who welcomed the delegates and conducted a comprehensive tour of the school’s facilities. The tour encompassed various key areas, including classrooms, the library, science and computer laboratories, the staffroom, and the prayer room. Following the tour, the Principal provided a briefing on the school’s history and highlighted some of the challenges it faces.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary offered positive feedback following the visit, specifically commending the school’s cleanliness and the teachers’ preparedness to effectively engage students, even on the first day of term. He also acknowledged the excellent work and dedication of the school management.
