Brunei Darussalam marked its 41st National Day on Sunday, February 23, 2025, with a grand celebration involving thousands of schoolchildren, government officials, uniformed bodies, and private agencies. Among the participants were students and teachers from St. George’s School, who took part in the national event on the same day.
National Day holds deep significance as it commemorates a nation’s independence, identity, and cultural heritage. It serves as a moment for citizens to unite in honoring their country’s history, achievements, and aspirations for progress. This occasion fosters national pride, unity, and patriotism, reinforcing the shared values and heritage of the people.
In line with the national celebrations, St. George’s School organized its own National Day event on March 1, 2025, within the school premises. The event saw enthusiastic participation from all secondary students, Year 6B students, and teachers.
The celebration commenced with the singing of the Brunei National Anthem, followed by a prayer reading. The school’s Principal, Mr. Janidi Jingan, then delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of National Day and the importance of commemorating this historic occasion. He also highlighted the theme for 2025: Bersatu Mencapai Cita Negara, which translates to United to Achieve National Goals.
Following the speech, an oath-taking ceremony took place, after which two students carried the National Flag to the front as the entire school community waved their own flags in unison.
The event concluded with a group photoshoot, capturing the spirit of unity and patriotism among students and staff.
