St. George's School successfully concluded its Primary Leadership Camp 2026, a transformative 2D1N residential program held from 29th to 30th May at the Sumbiling Eco Village. The initiative, themed "Learn, Lead, Grow" served as a gesture of appreciation for the school's prefects and monitors while focusing on turning information into practical leadership and teamwork skills.
The camp commenced with an inspiring opening address by the School Principal, Mr. Janidi Jingan, who emphasized that true leadership is rooted in character building and fostering empathy. Central to the camp's mission was the "Transformation over Information" mindset, encapsulated by the powerful guiding principle: "Don't Just Carry a Badge, Become a Bridge". This core philosophy was championed by Madam Alice Ting, Head of Primary and the Camp Organizer, whose sessions provided the vital intellectual and emotional framework required for these young leaders to build unshakable confidence and lead with integrity.
The first day, themed "Jungle Immersion", saw student leaders diving into the heart of the Temburong rainforest to master survival skills, including shelter building and traditional fishing. Participants also embarked on a rainforest trek to identify medicinal herbs and edible plants, while cultural activities like bamboo chicken cooking and blowpipe practice further enriched their experience.
The second day focused on "Growth & Teamwork", featuring hands-on learning with nature through lemongrass farming. Students also participated in creative teambuilding challenges designed to sharpen their strategy and group dynamics.
The school acknowledged the guiding presence of Deputy Principal Mr. Luxman and the organizing committee members, whose meticulous planning and logistical coordination ensured a secure and transformative environment for all participants.
The event reached its peak during the closing ceremony with an energetic delivery by the Chairman of the School Board of Governors, Mr. Anthony Liew. His insightful guidance encouraged the young St. Georgians to lead with resilience and integrity.
The camp successfully achieved its goals of discovering leadership within each individual, cultivating a growth mindset, and fostering a deeper appreciation for cultural and environmental stewardship. As these young leaders return to their academic lives, they carry with them strengthened teamwork skills and a renewed sense of confidence to navigate future challenges.
