St. George's School successfully held its 35th Secondary Sports Meet on Saturday, 4th July 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Padang Kebajikan, Berakas, bringing together students, teachers, parents, and invited guests for a morning of athletic excellence, determination, and house spirit.
The event commenced with a vibrant march-past, where students proudly paraded in their respective house colours before the Grand Stand. Led by the school's Head Boy, Aaden Samuel (Year 11A), together with the House Captains of Blue, Green, Red and Yellow Houses, each house showcased impressive enthusiasm, unity and creativity through energetic cheer performances, setting an inspiring tone for the day's celebrations.
Following the national anthem, the Chairman of the Organising Committee and Principal, Mr. Janidi Jingan, delivered his opening address. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Vincent Stewart Mah, representing the School Board of Governors, officially declared the sports meet open by ringing the gong. The ceremony also featured the recital of the Ikrar Sukan (Oath of Sportsmanship), led by Muhammad 'Arief Syafiq (Year 10B), before the athletes marched out to begin the competitions.
The athletics programme featured 100-metre and 200-metre races for both primary and secondary students before concluding with the highly anticipated 4 × 100-metre relay races, where teamwork and determination were on full display. The Sports Meet followed weeks of preparation, including preliminary track and field events as well as the tug-of-war competition held during the latter half of June, which contributed to the overall house standings.
After a series of thrilling races and spirited competition, Blue House successfully defended its title as the Overall Champion of the Secondary Sports Meet for the second consecutive year. Red House finished second, followed by Green House in third, while Yellow House was recognised for its outstanding enthusiasm by receiving both the Champion House Parade and Best Team Spirit awards.
Individual excellence was also celebrated during the prize presentation ceremony. Summer Mikaela of Blue House was named the Overall Best Female Athlete, while Abdul Haqqil Mubeen of Red House received the Overall Best Male Athlete award in recognition of his outstanding performances throughout the competition.
The event concluded with the presentation of prizes, a group photograph to commemorate the occasion, and the dismissal of students. The 35th Secondary Sports Meet once again reflected the school's commitment to promoting sportsmanship, perseverance, and a healthy competitive spirit among its students. Its success was made possible through the dedication and collective efforts of the teachers and staff of St. George's School, whose unwavering commitment ensured the event ran smoothly from start to finish.
