KIULAP — The hardwood at TitanX Gym was the center of intense competition on Sunday, July 19, as the St. George’s School Basketball Club hosted its highly anticipated 2026 tournament. Featuring an all-club lineup, the eight-hour event delivered high-caliber action, disciplined execution, and elite sportsmanship across both the Boys' and Girls' divisions.
From opening tip-off at 8:00 AM to the final buzzer at 4:00 PM, players displayed remarkable endurance and skill. The energy in the arena reached its peak during the afternoon championship rounds, bolstered by strong support from parents, guardians, and members of the public who filled the stands to cheer on the athletes.
VIP Attendance & Guests of Honor
The tournament was further honored by the arrival of the school’s executive leadership during the high-stakes final matches at 2:00 PM. Their presence highlighted the school's commitment to athletic development and student excellence.
The Guests of Honor in attendance were Principal Mr. Janidi Jingan, Deputy Principal Mr. Luxman Satchithananthan, and Head of Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Mrs. Nepolian Sheeba Joseph. They were joined by Executive Guest Mr. Aywen Chak Wang Hoong, Head of the Secondary Section.
Tournament Results and Team Rosters
Girls' Division
The Girls' Division saw exceptional teamwork and determination across all four competing squads. Taking first place and crowned Champions were Team RED, featuring Ma. Julliana Victoria Claveria Oteyza, Mikaela Hing Zheng Fae, Amira Radhakrishnan, and Junkala Limbu.
Securing second place as Runners-Up was Team YELLOW, composed of Amberley Niquolle Cajegas Khoo, Akansha Limbu, Subiksha Loganathan, and Precious Ann Zuniega Blaso. Claiming third place was Team GREEN, represented by Yoshrina Ibba Tampus, Alee'sya Syahirah Mecca binti Awang Ali Hussin, Jaireh Torion Bayalan, Deekshika Sunil, and Grishma Thapa. Team BLUE also put on a spirited performance as tournament participants, featuring Maleqca anak Magdelynie, Sauleha Suleman, Vannely Jhen P. Perez, and Varshini Loganathan.
Boys' Division
The Boys' Division delivered high-intensity action from the group stages all the way through to the finals. Finishing in first place as Champions were Team Sinigeng, represented by Ralph Aldrei M. Perea, Jhon Rhaf Haggai Cometa Fetlino, Arjay Ace Sepillo Castro, Charles Francis E. Chiang, Hisham Mohamed, and Gio Ivan P. Perez.
Finishing as Runners-Up in second place was Team Airball Warriors, comprising John Noly Bahinting Estrada, Muhammad Nadim Iman @ Abd Qayyum bin Mohd Sufri, Cedric Ethan Anthony Martinez Perez, Mathieu Gabrielle Andres Del Mundo, and Ruiz Jacob Garcia Uson. Taking third place was Team Swish Kabobs, featuring Prince Rinmar Miano Santiago, Riel Eros Odovelas Toledo, Chad Simbajon Emata, Tan Yon Sen, Mohamad Deandre bin Mohamad Wahid Juelar, and Vicente P. Santos III. Team Benchwarmers put up a hard-fought effort as participants, rostered by Santino Joachim Domalaon Lemque, Muhammad Ibrahim Abdul Rehman, Kalugala Gedara Pesitha Bometh Kalugala, Edmark Platon Ladores, Tan Yon Le, and Kueh Yan Bin @ Justin.
Individual Awards and Most Valuable Players
Outstanding performances throughout the tournament were recognized with individual honors across both divisions. Ma. Julliana Victoria Claveria Oteyza of Team RED was named the Girls' Most Valuable Player for her stellar court leadership, while Ralph Aldrei M. Perea of Team Sinigeng earned the Boys' Most Valuable Player award for his dominant offensive play. Taking home the prestigious Overall Tournament Most Valuable Player award was Arjay Ace Sepillo Castro of Team Sinigeng for his exceptional two-way play throughout the day.
Event Officials and Committee
The successful execution of the tournament was driven by the collaborative efforts of the organizing committee, coaching staff, and officiating crew. The organizing committee was led by Teacher Amirah Syasya Hj Ahmad as Head of the Basketball Club, alongside Assistant Head Teacher Abdul Azim Abdullah.
Coaching and alumni guidance were provided by Head Coach Anderson Yu Jr. and Assistant Coach Dk Thaliya Naveen bte Pg Anak Hj Tahiruddin. Officiating duties were expertly managed by Head Referee Anderson Yu Jr. alongside referees Jovani Castillo and Anthony Gonzales. Table scoring and timekeeping were maintained with precision by Flerida Yu and Menchie Sarona.
