Kindergarteners from St. George's School had a fun visit to Fun Blocks Interactive Indoor Playground situated at Hua Ho Manggis Mall, Jalan Muara. The visit was made on 13 August 2019. The aim of the visit was to expose the children to a variety of occupations. Besides that, it also helps to stimulate the children's imagination and enhances their development by integrating learning and play in a fun and interesting way.
Upon arrival, the staff welcomed the children with a briefing on playground rules before engaging them in a series of warm up dances which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Then, the children were grouped to do some craft work which included jewellery making, sand art or icing design for cookies at the craft corner, while the other group headed for the free flow plays.
At the Playground area, the students enjoyed climbing, sliding and pretending to fly an aeroplane. Meanwhile at the extensive Role Play area, they dressed up and pretended to be actors, chefs, grocers, mechanics, doctors or scientists. This allowed them to act out real life situations and helped to build confidence, creativity and communication skills. Activities such as these encourage social interaction and help children to develop problem solving skills.
The children had immense fun at role play. The activities also allowed them to interact more with their classmates and learn from each other's personal experiences. They also excitedly brought home their craft work to share with their family.
