On the 8th of November, students from Year 9A and Year 10A visited the Fisheries Department in Serasa for an educational field trip.
Upon arrival, students were welcomed by the department staff and escorted to Dewan Nurhuda, where the programme began. Students were introduced to the roles and responsibilities of the Fisheries Department and learned about the importance of sustainable fisheries in Brunei. The talk highlighted how marine resources are managed, protected, and monitored, allowing students to gain meaningful insights into conservation efforts, students were also questioned in between the talks to test the students’ knowledge.
After a series of informative talks, students participated in an engaging Kahoot quiz, answering questions based on the presentation. The session continued with hands-on activities at two interactive stations, “Guess It” and “Sensory”, where students identified marine-related items through observation and touch. The activities encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and active participation.
The field trip successfully enhanced students’ awareness of environmental protection and the importance of preserving Brunei’s marine resources.
